Wood hiding places are very popular among reptile herp owners. Wood is easy to maintain and is a very attractive addition to any terrarium. They require special care, however. These hide boxes should be kept extremely clean. It is important to wash them out frequently in order to keep the moisture levels high and to eliminate the smell.

Hide boxes are not the only options available for reptile keeping. A good alternative is to create a habitat where the snakes can go to lay eggs. This can be accomplished with different techniques. Reptile hides provide a wonderful home for your herping reptiles. It gives them a safe and cozy place to hide, resting from their activities as well as giving you an opportunity to monitor their health. Snakes do appreciate a change of pace, so this is one option you may wish to consider if your pets seem to be suffering from stress. You will know if they are in need of a change of environment when they start showing signs of chronic stress. Although this is not a long term solution, it will alleviate their symptoms until they can be treated in their own habitat.
