Lizards That Look Like a Dragon

One of the coolest-looking lizards is the dragon lizard. It has a long tail and a drab gray body with brownish scales. The legs are clubbed and it has no tail. This creature has been around since prehistoric times and is one of the biggest of all reptiles. The lizard family contains over thirty different species and there are many to consider, such as: funnel-jawed lizards, rock lizards, certain desert species, and wolf-tooth lizards.

Some people are not aware that the Burmese dragon lizard looks like a dragon. The scientific name is Psittaculaburmensis and it is from the Psittacidae order. It has a stout body and is very well-built with robust muscles. It can grow up to twenty-eight inches and weigh about one and a half pounds.

Its color varies from silver to a rich blue-green. It also possesses red eyes. It can grow up to one and a half feet in length and have a tail that is between two and three feet long. In addition to the appearance there is another attribute that is notable about this creature.

It does have some reptilian characteristics. It is thought to be a representative of the dragon family because of its great size and muscular build. There is even a myth that dragons helped create man. This theory may be based on the fact that dragons share some attributes with modern lizards.

A Psittacula burmesei, which is the scientific name for this creature, was studied by Thomas Jefferson. He noted that it was the only lizard among all of his study that possessed a tail that did not grow back. Its forelimb ends in a long curving shape and its back end is straight. Its head is large and it stands erect. Its eyes are large and almond shaped.

This particular creature is one of two distinctly colored species in the Psittacula genus. They look similar to each other but they do differ when it comes to color. When it is stressed or frightened, one will have a ruffled appearance that is not usually seen in this particular species.

There is one more common name that many people give to this species. That is the Eastern Cuckoo. This one has been shown on several occasions to be similar in appearance to a cockatoo. Its name comes from the fact that it is most often found in thickets, fields, or forests. It is also well-known to be active at night, so it would make a good choice for a nightlight.

One of the main reasons that lizards have been domesticated is because of their ability to look after themselves. They tend to eat less because they do not need to expend too much energy on defense. They also are capable of running faster than any other animal, making them an important aspect of any team that travels in packs. Lastly, they are one of the few animals that do not have any appendages on their legs, except for the tail. The tail is used as a much needed backup for the front limbs that usually end up getting severed during fights. No wonder why this particular reptile makes an interesting pet.

The Eastern Cuckoo is no different; except for the coloration that it has. This is actually a very popular looking coloration amongst lizards. However, the Eastern Cuckoo is also the only known member of its genus that is not egg-laying. It preys on smaller fish and reptiles that tend to hide during the day.

If you have ever wondered what a snapping turtle looks like when it is not hiding, then you will want to pay close attention to the description on the ID website. It is very hard to miss. On most pictures you will notice that it looks very similar in size to a small alligator. It is most often found in the Florida Keys and along the Gulf Coast.

If you happen to live in Arizona, you might encounter the desert monitor. The Desert Monitor is very small, but does tend to be more aggressive than the other lizards mentioned so far. When hunting they will hang around rocks and logs. When not hunting or feeding, the desert monitor will spend most of its time looking at itself in the mirror. If there are any other reptiles that look like a dragon, they are probably desert monitors. They can grow to about two and half inches long.
